Welcome to our website. Ahmedabad Inside.

Ahmadabad is the largest city in state of Gujarat (there are 28 states, Gujarat is the westernmost one)and the sixth largest city in India has a population of over 3,7 million people. The city is also sometimes called Karnavati , an older name and as Amdavad in colloquial Gujarati . Ahmedabad is the administrative center of Ahmedabad District , and was the former capital of Gujarat State from 1960 to 1970 , when Gandhinagar replaced it. The city was founded in the 15th century by Sultan Ahmed Shah on the Sabarmati river , and served as capital of the Sultanate of Gujarat. The historic center of Ahmedabad is presently a thriving business district. Ahmedabad is mainly divided in two parts, the old city, and new city. The old city has developed rather haphazardly, and most of the roads are narrow and crowded during business hours. The new city has well-structured, wide roads. A wide variety of shops and businesses exist in the city. In addition to its role as a commercial center, Ahmedabad is also an important industrial center, with chemical and textile industries. Ahmedabad is often described as the Manchester of the East, because of its once-booming textile industry. Ahmedabad is a very beautiful city.

Sachin Tendulkar fires record 200 against South Africa

Sachin Tendulkar created history by firing the first double century in one-day internationals as India put South Africa to the sword in Gwalior.

The 36-year-old was in indomitable form as he bludgeoned 25 fours and three sixes in a stunning 200 off 147 balls.

It passed the previous best of 194, set by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar in 1997 and Zimbabwe's Charles Coventry last year.

And it saw India, aided by a fabulous cameo of 68 off 35 balls from Mahendra Dhoni, to a superb 401-3 from 50 overs.

Tendulkar, whose previous best one-day knock was the 186 not out he scored against New Zealand in 1999, is already the leading run-scorer in Test and ODI cricket.

But to have reached such a landmark, with a single in the final over, only serves to underline his class and add to the legacy that already surrounds arguably the finest batsman to have played the game.

Amdavadis, please take this to heart

Over 10,000 Amdavadis suffered cardiac arrests in 2.5 years, 108 service says; 36-50 age group second-most prone to attacks

Amdavadis need to take a deep breath and have a hard look at their lifestyle and eating habits if this data of cardiac arrests across Ahmedabad is anything to go by. As per the data collated by 108, Emergency Management and Research Institute, in the past two and half years, over 10,000 Amdavadis suffered cardiac arrests.

The above-60 age group are the most affected age group, according to the information provided. In this group, around 4,000 people had a heart attack during this period.

However, the most worrisome fact that has come to light is that people between 36 and 50 years are the second-most group at risk of cardiac arrest, with 2,630 people struck by the stroke.

The figures also show interesting area-wise data that suggests people in the 36-50 age group of Dudheshwar suffered the most attacks.

“Cardiac arrest at the early age can be because of the coronary artery blockage or structural disease. One of the reasons can also be the weak heart muscles,” said Kamlesh Shah, a cardiologist.

Rural scores over urban

In fact, the situation is much better in rural Ahmedabad. In any age group, starting from 0 to above 60 years, people in rural Ahmedabad suffered less hearts strokes than their counterparts in Ahmedabad city.

Subodh Satyawadi, chief operational officer of EMRI that provided the data and have been instrumental in saving many lives, said, “Before being deputed to the ambulances our emergency management technicians are given 45 days training.

The training focuses on medical, trauma and environmental emergencies. Survival in cardiac emergencies primarily depends on speed of the care provided. Every day on an average we handle over 2,000 emergencies, of which over 100 cases are of cardiac arrests.”

Since their launch,108 has managed over 63,700 cardiac cases, which is 5 per cent of the total cases in Ahmedabad, according to Manan Dave, brand manager of EMRI.

Save Our Tigers

‘Save Our Tigers…’ Have you seen this advertisement on TV? I almost shocked when I came to know that there are only 1,411 tigers left in India, which is our National Animal. Once there were thousands of them in our forests, but now only few of them are left in their natural habitat.

Despite of many efforts, we are losing the graceful animal with an alarming pace. If I am not mistaken; Government of India held a mission called Project Tiger to save the National Animal for about two decades, but still it shows no result.

Now another project has just begun called ‘Save Our Tigers’. We should really support this project as we should not lose the tiger. Tiger is one of the most graceful animals and it looks the real king like in jungles.

In our ancient holy books, the animal is described as to belong to Goddess Amba Maa. If we fail to save this very ancient, powerful animal; I think our very next generation will only be able to see it in photos.

At present, there is only one species on the earth that is proving dangerous to the tiger’s survival, which pose maximum risk to their life, and that is human being. We humans are the only enemy of not only tigers but many more creatures on this planet earth.

And on the contrary to this, we are the only one who can save tigers as well as other creatures. If we fail to save and lose our National Animal then it is will really be shameful to all of us.

There a few prominent personalities and celebrities who are working on the project includes M S Dhoni, Bhauching Bhutia etc. They are supporting the project via web site ‘www.saveourtigers.com’, I am going to join them, are you?

Weighting fraud at Ahmedabad Railway Station

This is to bring in kind notice of all the concerned that the Ahmedabad Railway Station is the venue to corruption. Everyday millions of passengers travel through railways and a large chunk of them pass through this station in and out of the city.

Some with fewer luggages which dose not require luggage weigh check et al. But those who travel in individual/group having more luggages have to get checked for the weight weather under specific limit or not?

Here I come to the point. On January 18 at around 8:50 am in the morning at luggage booking counter at the station, I opted to check the weight and pay the prescribed excess luggage charges. After weighting and finding luggage over specified limit, I paid the amount for the difference to the concerned clerk.

Sensing a doubt, I checked the weighting machine scale and was shocked after seeing the reading on the scale. In all it was showing 25 kg of excess luggage. When I enquired about then he began to quarrel and went on to saying, "This scale is for luggage not for human, go to electro-mechanical scale and weigh yourself. If you want to make any complaint, go and do the same."

By that time I already had lost enough of my valuable time and was left with no option but to leave the place without any argument with him. Now it seems that something fishy is going there and may be higher authorities, to some extent, are also involved in the whole process. I request AM to please have a look at the matter, and passengers to be careful while going for the same at the Ahmedabad Railway Station.

Remove elf hoardings

This is to bring to your notice that hoarding of elf company in Ahmedabad near RTO circle and Subash Bridge picture showing funeral of a bike been taken away by people, which creates negative impact on the common people. Though I agree that it is meant to attract the mass but every morning when I go to college and look at those hoardings I get de-motivated and irritates me also.

And so is the opinion of some other fellows too, whom I have discusses about it. I think this kind of advertisement and hoarding boards should be removed as soon as possible and make sure no such things come out I public display in the any form of advertisement.

Belated happy birthday Tarak Mehtaji

Tarak Mehta is one of those greatest humorists who can make a person laugh tremendously. Since my childhood, I have read his articles and stories and feeling happier.

One of the Tellywood producers has made a serial from his book Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chasma and the serial is doing great. December 25 is his birthday and on this day he turned 80 years old.

So I would like to wish him all the best for his long lasting journey in Gujarati literature. He has some remarkable contributions in Gujarati literature. I, really, salute Tarak Meta’s dedication even at the age of 80. All the Gujarati people are wishing him a very happy birthday.
